Welcome From Terri & Bill

The Blue Swallow Motel was built in 1939 by W. A. Huggins. It features a unique, personal shell design on the exterior stucco. Garages, a signature of motor courts of the era, are another unique characteristic of this motel. According to Huggins' son, Phares, it was sold at a loss because of economic conditions at the onset of WWII. With gas and tire rationing in effect, people weren't traveling as much.

The best known proprietor of the Blue Swallow was Lillian Redman, who acquired it in 1958. She operated the motel for almost 40 years, facing numerous difficulties including the interstate bypass, which drastically reduced her customer base. There is much information available about Lillian online and in numerous publications.

Your hosts, Terri & Bill, have purchased the Blue Swallow Motel, and welcome you to this Route 66 landmark. They are keeping the tradition of hospitality alive.

"Don't think twice, it's MORE than alright!"
Bill and Teri will make sure you have an incredibly comfortable and excellent stay at the Blue Swallow. The motel is sooo cool, especially at night with all the neon signs lit up. Hang out at the Pow Wow for food and drinks and a game of pool with very friendly locals. We wont forget y'all! Thank you!

From the moment we arrived we were treated like old friends. We were takin and showed our room before we paid for it, you can't get that everywhere. It's usually just a surprise. They gave us the military discount too but the rates are great either way. You really feel like you have stepped back in time with the look of the rooms and with the neon and the wonderful hospitality , the owner even took our pic under the famous sign, and yet there are still the modern conviences like WiFi. We would definitely stay here again & recommend it to anyone. Made our Route 66 honeymoon experience even better.
